Geological Notes Rainbow moonstone is a variety of feldspar that displays adularescence — the shimmering light effect caused by internal layering of feldspar minerals. Black inclusions come from natural tourmaline or other accessory minerals. Blue flash occurs when light interacts with oriented internal layers, producing a vivid sheen at specific angles. Hearts and palm stones are carved from natural rough and then polished to reveal internal structure.
